Following years of continued growth and the addition of hundreds more school partners, Stevensons is making a major investment in its main distribution centre.

It will add around 10,000 sq. ft at its Acrewood Way site by taking over the adjacent SOCOTEC buildings. This will provide a mix of new storage capacity alongside refurbished office space, which will come on-stream in early 2021.

Commenting on the investment is co-CEO John Stevenson, who is happy that the adjacent site has now become available. “It is the ideal way to permanently extend our current capacity in St Albans.”

He was also clear about the range of benefits that the additional space will provide; both for employees and customers.

“Greater office space will allow us to break away from the in-built limitations of our current cramped offices,” he continues. “Providing our team with a space that’s modern and fitting for a business of our size and potential.”

The virtual doubling of the company’s warehouse capacity at the site will also ensure that it has greater stock holding capability.

“Customers should see an improvement in both product availability and order turnaround,” concludes Stevenson.

As the adjacent site already shares access with Stevensons’ current head office and distribution centre, combining the two will ease the current parking shortage. It will also improve logistical turnaround of supplier deliveries, particularly during the peak period.
