INDX February 2020

Despite Storm Ciara hitting the UK as INDX Kidswear opened its doors on Sunday 16 February, hundreds of buyers still flocked to the show’s a/w 20 edition.

Pre-show registrations were another recorder breaker this season, increasing +16% on February 2019. The bad weather did curtail final attendance figures however, with the show finishing -17% on estimates.

Attendance figures, though lower than expected, did not equate to a slow business event for exhibitors. In fact, many brands reported brisk order writing and a very busy couple of days.

Buyers who braved the weather had evidently made the journey with the intent to place orders.

“It’s been a great show, despite the weather,” says Imran Hassan, who exhibited Lilly + Sid and Turtledove London at the show. “INDX is always a great place to meet new customers and keep up relationships with existing ones. I am really pleased for the organisers; they have put their passion into making sure INDX becomes the number one kids’ trade show in the UK.”

“INDX is a fantastic show to meet new customers as well as existing ones,” adds Gareth Griffiths of The Bonnie Mob. “Although the weather has been horrible, it is great to see so many people here.”

“It’s brilliant to see so many brands showcased here – more than ever,” agrees Grass & Air MD, Kathryn Shuttleworth. “It’s a great place to meet customers, old and new. Every time we exhibit, we get new ideas and have some excellent conversations with retailers and other brands.”

INDX Kidswear February 2020 used all four showrooms and had over 200 brands on offer.

Among the line-up included new footwear and boys’ brands, which were equally pleased with their debut event. New footwear signing Start-Rite exhibited in the Platinum Showroom.

“This was our first show with INDX Kidswear,” says commercial director, Katherine Brown. “Start-Rite are very impressed with how many of our existing customers are here and the opportunities with new potential independent retailers. The breadth and range of like-minded children’s brands make this show a great match for us.”

Each season INDX Kidswear attracts a number of new buyers.

Commenting is first-time visitor Holly Hamer, owner of Rockit Children’s Boutique. “I’m fairly new to the work of kids’ retail, but this was by far the best show I’ve been to. I’m completely won over by INDX and will be coming to all future events.”

Arrangements for INDX Kidswear’s July 2020 event are now well underway, with rebookings already very high. The summer show will again include all four showrooms as well as a selection of new brands.

INDX Kidswear July 2020 takes place on 5-6 July at Cranmore Park Conference & Event Centre, Solihull B90 4LF.
