Banner Schoolwears Know-How Seminar advertising image

On Wednesday 16 February, Banner launched its very first ‘Know-How Seminar’ for a group of retailers to discuss the all-important topics of the updated DfE guidance and schoolwear tendering.

Banner’s seminar team − Howard Wilder, Dean Plant, Emma Connelly, Sarah Robins and Charlotte Robertson − talked through the many aspects of schoolwear tendering, detailing everything retailers need to be aware of and understand when completing a uniform tender.

The session commenced with Howard Wilder, Banner’s Sales Director, who took attendees through the new DfE guidance, answering the big questions about what it means for schools and retailers.

“It was vital for us to remind retailers to have confidence when going into the tendering process,” comments Wilder. “Once familiarised with the DfE guidance and prepared with an amazing service and product proposition, retailers should be going into schoolwear tenders ready to impress with what they have to offer.”

Meanwhile, Group Marketing Director Dean Plant guided the group through the key elements of schoolwear tenders.

Using an example designed by Banner, Plant highlighted what makes a tender stand out. Also, how to effectively approach each school’s needs.

Emma Connelly, Banner’s Product Director, gave attendees tips on must-haves for presenting product to schools. A key take-away from her advice was to make sure to clearly highlight product information; especially when it comes to eco product and sustainable materials.

Sustainability Manager Sarah Robins gave attendees a simple six-step plan for implementing an effective sustainability strategy. With students and schools becoming increasingly in-tuned with the importance of sustainability, Robins’ talk was a key interest for those in the seminar.

Finally, Marketing Manager Charlotte Robertson led attendees through Banner’s resource platform, The Media Hub. Robertson demonstrated how the Tender Support resources on the Media Hub could be used by retailers to create their own tender presentation.

So far, the positive response from retailers has been overwhelming, and the team at Banner have found it incredibly encouraging to hear how helpful the sessions were.

Dean Plant, Group Marketing Director, concludes; “We’re so pleased with the turn-out we had and the response we’ve received from those who came to our first seminar. We couldn’t be happier with how it went and are glad to share our knowledge and ideas with retailers. We’re already making plans for our next seminar with the topics that retailers want to hear more of.”

The DfE and tendering seminar will be repeated soon for those who missed it, so keep an eye out for further details. For login or request details for the Banner Media Hub, please click here.
