Children outside in a den looking at a map

Award-winning children’s outdoor play brand, The Den Kit Company, has named Imogen Miller as its new managing director. Coinciding with the appointment is the launch of the brand’s new campaign to help get families outdoors, which will see the company sharing engaging activities and handy hints each week.

The Den Kit Company was founded in 2007 by Kay Miller and Jo Jones who, as ex-primary school teachers and Forest School Practitioners, are both advocates of outdoor play. The Shropshire brand has since grown rapidly, with stockists including John Lewis, Selfridges, The National Trust shops, Kew Gardens and The National History Museum.

Now, Miller, daughter of co-founder Kay Miller and the brand’s former marketing director, will take over the reins with exciting new plans in the pipeline and a commitment to continue inspiring families to encourage their children into the great outdoors.

Available in a variety of themes, Den Kits are designed to encourage children outside – whether in a tiny backyard, the woods, the beach or a balcony.

The promise of a hand-crafted space in which to set up a temporary retreat is tempting to children of all ages. Whilst the Den Kits appeal to children’s natural sense of adventure, they are also an effective teaching tool. Children are free to explore their creative talents for problem-solving, critical thinking and ingenuity.

Sourcing with sustainability in mind, the brand designs all products and assembles them in its on-site workshop. The company’s expert young “dengineers” then test out the products. Bringing further appeal to its following of mini adventurers, meanwhile. are the brand’s collaborations with The National Trust, Jaguar Land Rover and Inspirational Survivalist Ed Stafford.

“This year, consider making a resolution that not only benefits your family’s health but also brings you closer together,” says The Den Kit team. “Embracing the great outdoors, even in the cold, offers a myriad of benefits that extend beyond physical well-being.

“From building resilience to fostering creativity and strengthening family bonds, the positive impacts of outdoor activities are immeasurable. So, bundle up, step outside, and embark on a winter adventure with your kids – it might just become your favourite resolution yet.”
