Teenage girl with ginger hair

The Vegan Society has launched a new Teen Hub that aims to empower and inspire vegan and vegan-curious teens to live by their values.

Data from Ipsos Mori/The Vegan Society (2019) shows that close to half of all vegans are age 15-35 years. However, the driving force behind the recent rise of veganism is the increasing number of teenagers adopting compassionate lifestyles.

As the next generations are increasingly making kinder food, fashion and lifestyle choices, it is crucial for young people to explain their important personal reasons for adopting veganism.

Acting as an inspiring and empowering guide, The Vegan Society’s Teen Hub offers information, tips and advice specific to teens.

The Teen Hub includes information on many aspects of vegan life. From navigating social situations and living in a non-vegan home to rights at school and in the workplace.

Deciding to make the switch to veganism can be a tricky process for teenagers. For this reason, the Teen Hub also contains stories from young vegans about their personal journeys.

The aim is to provide support and reassurance that vegan teens don’t need to miss out on anything. The Vegan Society is now calling on more teenagers to share their stories and experiences on the Teen Hub website.

Events, meetings and volunteering opportunities continue to face restrictions and may do for the foreseeable future. This online resource, therefore, has the potential to be a home for those teenagers looking to connect with like-minded individuals.

Commenting on the new Teen Hub is Matt Turner, spokesperson for The Vegan Society.

“While veganism has never been more accessible in the supermarket aisles, the process of going vegan is still different for everyone. Teenagers who are still in school or living with their parents may face challenges and objections that adults wouldn’t. This is why our Teen Hub is a vital tool in helping those who need guidance, support or inspiration to thrive as young vegans.

“We discover who we really are during our teenage years. Opinions are formed and futures are partly defined. A resource such as the Teen Hub is a much-needed, invaluable platform for those who are curious about becoming a vegan or need support or advice along their vegan journey.”
