Leading schoolwear manufacturer, Trutex, has passed the incredible milestone of saving over 18 million plastic bottles from landfill in 2021, thanks to the uniform it has sold being made from recycled bottles.
The data comes from sales across blazers, trousers and skirts of those styles using certified 100% recycled polyester. Additionally, Trutex blazers now have all recycled fabric, including the internal lining, launched in 2021.
Trutex’s commitment to sustainability ranges from how it designs and manufactures its garments to being a carbon neutral business since 2012.
The company’s sustainability commitments include ‘Made to Last’; creating tough uniform that can stand up to the rigours of school life, rough and tumble of the playground, and multiple washing throughout the school year.
Being carbon neutral; carbon offsetting is a way to mitigate the carbon the business uses, generating back positively in the environment. Eco Elite Renewably Sourced Finish: stain repellence is a core attribute to most of Trutex’s school uniform.
Trutex also sustainably sources fabrics. This ensures the source of the yarn is a maintained source and the impact to the environment is as low as possible. And finally, reducing energy and waste; Trutex is conscious of the energy and waste it produces, and it is part of all its responsibilities to minimise this.
