Children’s audio platform, tonies®, has introduced Angelina Ballerina for the Toniebox narrated by British TV star Catherine Tyldesley. The new Tonie includes 10 stories about Angelina – a mouse with aspirations to become a famous ballerina – brought to life by the Mancunian actress and star of Coronation Street and upcoming Channel 5 drama The Good Ship Murder.
The enormously successful Angelina Ballerina children’s book series includes 60 titles written by author Helen Holarbird. Since then, Holabird’s stories have been made into two animated TV series, adapted as a touring ballet, and now feature in audio Tonie form for the Toniebox. With pirouettes and pliés aplenty, children are taken on a ballet dancing adventure with Angelina as she meets a princess, attends a royal wedding, and celebrates her birthday in magical Mouseland.
Catherine Tyldesley comments on the new Tonie.
“We’re huge fans of the Toniebox in our house, so I was delighted when the tonies® team asked me to narrate the new Angelina Ballerina Tonie. It was so much fun to record, and Alfie was really excited to hear mummy’s voice reading the Angelina Ballerina story. He listens to his Toniebox every day, and I have to confess I often leave it playing even after he has fallen asleep.
“There are so many Tonies available, so we’re spoilt for choice with a library packed with great stories, songs and educational content. Many little boys and girls dream of becoming a ballerina – hopefully these stories will spark their imagination. The message in these stories is about not giving up, something I like to instil in my own children. I’m honoured to have been asked to voice these books and thrilled to be part of the magic with the new Angelina Ballerina Tonie.”
Also commenting is Liz Peters, Head of Portfolio at tonies® UK.
“We’re so excited to bring the inspiring Angelina Ballerina stories to our little listeners. It’s been such a pleasure working the talented Catherine Tyldesley, who has narrated the stories with her wonderfully delightful enthusiasm. We absolutely love that Catherine is a huge fan of the Toniebox too, as she really understands the magic and importance of audio storytelling in childhood.”
