The Nest, a digital hub that helps maternity, baby and children’s brands and retailers grow consciously and profitably, has introduced eco-friendly, bioplastic toys to its wholesale marketplace.

The toys are produced in a factory near Lviv in Ukraine. There, 500 women and men continue making the toys, despite the war that is ravaging their country.

As well as helping develop a child’s motor skills, the toys are better for the environment

This is because they are made from eco-friendly, sugarcane bioplastic. Bioplastic – which has the same qualities as traditional plastic – consists of at least 94% sugarcane. Sugarcane is a renewable raw material that is 100% recyclable without harming the environment.

Furthermore, bioplastic captures and fixes CO2 from the atmosphere during its production, helping to reduce greenhouse gases emission. Other toys are also made from up-cycled moulds to reduce cost and waste.

Nicola Perring, founder of The Nest, is supporting the Ukrainian factory by providing them with a wholesale route in the UK. She is also donating all profit from the sales to support the vital work that War Child is doing in Ukraine. “By buying these toys you can help Ukrainian people and our planet too,” adds Perring.

Visitors attending INDX Kids on 29-30 January 2023 can meet The Nest team to learn more about these toys and the other conscious brands it works with. The Nest will also be answering questions about sustainability at the show. To book a time slot in advance, please contact nicola@thenest.uk.com.
