Young Soles, the independent British children’s footwear brand, is setting a new standard for Back to School style in 2026. Blending British heritage design with modern styling, foot health expertise and sustainable craftsmanship, Young Soles proves that school shoes can be durable, comfortable and stylish.

Designed in East London and crafted in Europe using premium, responsibly sourced materials, the Back to School 2026 collection delivers high-quality shoes that support growing feet while standing up to the rigours of the playground. Each pair is built on foot-shaped lasts with wide toe boxes, breathable linings, and flexible soles to encourage proper foot development and all-day comfort.

“This season, we’ve built on everything our customers already love about our Back to School collection,” says Louise Shill, creative director and founder of Young Soles. “We’ve taken our bestselling styles, from classic Mary Janes and brogues to our popular barefoot designs, and refined them for school life. Our goal was to create shoes that meet uniform requirements while staying true to our design ethos: footwear that’s stylish, durable, and made to support growing feet. It’s about making the return to school exciting, without compromising on comfort or foot health.”

Young Soles’ Back to School range builds on the success of its most popular styles, with updates designed for modern school life.

Highlights include all-black versions of bestselling styles, ideal for schools with strict uniform policies. With durable, stitch-down construction remaining a parent favourite for its strength and heritage appeal, the lineup includes Mary Jane, T-Bar and ankle boots styles built to last. The popular barefoot Mary Jane, T-Bar and boys’ shoes also return, supporting natural movement with zero-drop soles, hook-and-loop fastenings, and a wide anatomical fit, all while delivering a polished, school-ready look.

Meanwhile, retro-inspired Keegan and barefoot Pele sneakers combine flexible soles with a choice of hook-and-loop straps or removable elastic laces. Finally, new arrivals include two new stitch-down styles: a unisex brogue with a single strap hook-and-loop fastening and removable elastic laces for a versatile fit, and a classic double-strap Mary Jane designed for easy on-and-off, with supportive, flexible comfort for all-day wear.

Sustainability is at the heart of Young Soles’ design and production.

The brand uses Leather Working Group-certified leathers sourced as a by-product of the food industry, while outsoles incorporate recycled materials where possible, alongside shoe boxes made from recycled cardboard. A Recycle & Reward programme launched in 2025 helps families recycle outgrown shoes, reducing the 72 million pairs sent to UK landfill annually. Families receive £10 store credit for every pair returned. This dedication to sustainability was recognised when Young Soles won Gold for Best Footwear Brand at the 2025 City Kids Green Awards, showing how small brands can drive big change.

The Back to School 2026 collection is available to pre-order until late January for early June 2026 delivery, ensuring stockists are ready for the busy Back to School season. For further information on Young Soles, please click here.
