Founded by Lucy Coggle, Lucy Coggle Designs specialises in unusual gifts and homewares based on Lucy’s original drawings. A key part of the brand’s offer is a range of gift items for parents and children. Back in 2016, inspiration for the business actually came from Lucy’s then two-week-old baby and her husband’s impending birthday.

“I had no idea what to give my husband for a present until inspiration struck – our new daughter and her glorious little feet!” explains Lucy. “I couldn’t resist making footprints with her, but like so many parents before me, I had no idea what to do with them next.

 

 

“Taking my lead from her nickname, ‘Owl’, I started to sketch a baby owlet around them, snatching any moment she was asleep to get drawing until this little footprint owl was finished.

“I had always loved art, and after years of art school, I was exhibiting internationally and travelling around the world. However, none of this left room for my first love of drawing, and definitely wasn’t very child friendly.

“Unsure what to do next, I found my owl picture was a hit. Soon friends and friends-of-friends were asking if I could do one for their babies, nephews, nieces – and the idea for the business was born.”

 

 

Since then, Lucy has taken her designs into homewares, ceramics and stationery and has grown the business to a small team working in her Oxfordshire studio.

The collection

The brand’s Original Baby Footprint Kit range is its bestseller. There are now over 13 different animal prints to choose from for ages newborn to 12 years. The kits help create memories of children’s feet for mums, dads and grandparents; making ideal gifts for Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, birthdays and Christmas.

There are also animal-themed prints available in a range of pastel colours, which are perfect for nursery walls. Plus, animal alphabet placemats and cards.
