CWB reports on the recent CIFF Kids trade fair in Copenhagen, Denmark.

The last few editions of CIFF Kids have coincided with CIFFDK, featuring men’s and women’s footwear, lifestyle and beauty. Also, during Copenhagen Fashion Week (CPHFW), where the whole of Copenhagen has an energetic feel. This means that exhibitors can widen their audience to lifestyle retailers who cannot fit different shows into an increasingly busy trade fair schedule. Here are some of our favourite Scandinavian brands from the event.

Serendipity Organics

Serendipity Organics (pictured above) has 100% organic cotton collections with full GOTS certification and a 100% baby alpaca wool collection. Established in Denmark in 2003, founder Sofie Tobiasen’s love for textiles, creative spirit and a desire to create healthier clothing for children that is better for the environment, remain at the heart of the brand. The label balances creating new products, prints and colours with its stock of classic, non-seasonal styles. This season it presents the concept of Re-Imagine as an addition to its primary collection. Re-imagined styles in checks and chambray give new life to corduroys in shades of driftwood and teal blue. For a/w 25, it also introduces a hand-drawn print, blue striped weave, brushed checkered cotton, coral terry, blue sweat and cream jersey, combining beautifully with its essential collection of T-shirts, leggings and onesies in soft mélange rib. Family collectives create the brand’s cotton cable knit cardigans, jumpers and soft baby alpaca wool collection.

Bundgaard

Established in Denmark in 1904, Bundgaard is Scandinavia’s oldest children’s shoe brand. The story unfolds in Esbjerg, a city in the western part of Denmark, where Thorvald Emil Bundgaard acquired a shoe factory and thus laid the foundation for Bundgaard shoes. The entire range features quality materials while promoting responsible leather production. The brand is a member of the Leather Working Group (LWG), a non-profit organisation dedicated to driving improvement across the global leather supply chain. The a/w 25 collection celebrates both nature’s seasonal beauty and childhood’s joy. Colours take inspiration from the pinks of winter sunsets and also the earthy tones of an autumn forest, mixing subtle textures, graphic patterns and creative materials. We love the iconic rubber boots, crafted from real rubber, with flexible soles for ultimate comfort. New this season is matching rainwear, which combines functionality, comfort and safety. The rainwear is fully waterproof with welded seams providing an extra-strong seal that keeps young ones dry, even on the wettest days. Logo reflectors also ensure visibility and safety.

Color Kids

As part of the Brands4Kids Group, Color Kids had a prominent position at CIFF Kids. We loved its interesting collection and eye-catching colour palettes for a/w 25. A Danish outerwear brand inspired by Scandinavian nature and the great outdoors, it believes in the magic of colours and their ability to evoke feelings and sensations. With a strong tradition for quality, functionality and innovation, Color Kids creates modern and contemporary designs that capture the essence of being kids. Functionality is a keystone in the collections, covering Baby in sizes 68-104 and Kids in sizes 92-176, with products for ski, outerwear and fleece, with coordinating accessories and footwear completing the outfits. A separate active collection also includes sports tops, tights and gym wear.

Copenhagen Colors

Copenhagen Colors designs and produces high-quality collections for children aged 0-12 years. The brand chooses materials with a sustainable mindset, including organic cotton, cashmere and merino wool. It only works with GOTS or OCS-certified factories to secure organic materials and fair wages for its employees and minimises overproduction. The brand’s DNA is based on colour, functionality and freedom of movement. It is essential to Copenhagen Colors that its clothes are lovely to look at with adult eyes but also work for play. For a/w 25, it launched Howdy, with Western symbols and cute details: dove and bow embroideries, unicorn prints, western cowboy hats and sheriff star badges. Designs are contemporary with vintage shapes and endless combinations, from denim, twill and corduroy styles with merino knitwear, to light printed poplin, practical teddy jackets and sweat sets. There are also lots of basic essentials in jersey, modal rib and pointelle. We love the brand’s unique collaboration with Bootstock, the Dutch shoe brand from Rotterdam that specialises in cowboy boots. The Copenhagen Colors x Bootstock limited edition has three colours/designs available.

Fliink

With collections for children aged 0-7 years and a playful yet timeless Scandinavian approach, Fliink was founded in Denmark in 2022. To be more responsible, products are carefully made to last beyond the season, and they are only produced after orders are placed to avoid waste and over-production. For a/w 25, the theme is a World of Dreams, with unicorns, snails and fairytale creatures appearing in a wonderful symbiosis, while geese, lined up in a row, move together in a flock. With small, delicate details and craftsmanship as key factors, collections revolve around cosy knitwear, beautiful sets and playful prints in natural or innovative fibres. We love the 3D rose embellished cardigan and fairytale embroidered geese knits for boys and girls, as well as the on-trend leopard print capsule collection for girls.

Hanevild

Hanevild was initially set up to showcase its love for knitwear and prints presenting Scandinavian design and the essence of cosiness. For a/w 25, it takes us on a forest trip through nature, entirely inspired by flora and fauna as well as woodland creatures. Textiles have a focus on ecology and durability with the aim for them to be handed down. Each garment is made from organic materials, using as many recycled materials as possible. Furthermore, all packaging is compostable and labelling is recycled. Keeping children warm in winter and temperature controlled during the warmest months of the year are key, together with a soft palette of naturals with blues and greens. The collection also features bow detailing, Christmas sweaters, and much more. Once again, there is beautiful hand embroidery on knits in a soft colour palette.

Lil’Paradise Copenhagen

Lil’ Paradise Copenhagen is a Danish kids’ clothing brand that combines Scandinavian minimalism with a modern aesthetic. The collections focus on comfort, quality and sustainability, allowing children to move freely and feel at ease in natural materials. Nature is the source of inspiration for both colour palettes and prints. There are two annual collections, summer and winter, where each piece is crafted with love, care and creativity. We love the coordinated knit sets with hedgehog, duck, dinosaur or bear designs. The baby jersey pieces, particularly the fox and lemon prints, were also popular at CIFF Kids. “We are expanding into the UK market and are looking for retailers, sales agents and distributors who share our passion for high-quality children’s clothing. We seek strong partners to help bring our Scandinavian-inspired designs to families across the UK.”

Mikk-Line

Part of the Luxx Kids Group, Mikk-Line specialises in high-performance outerwear, footwear and accessories, allowing children to defy any weather for an active outdoor lifestyle. Sustainability and functionality are the primary considerations. To protect children from weather and reduce the impact of hazardous chemicals, it has chosen to use a BIONIC-FINISH® ECO coating on most of its outerwear, which is a biodegradable surface coating entirely free of fluorides. Taking inspiration from the wonders of children’s imagination and fairytale worlds, the a/w 25 collection features recycled rain sets with removable fleece liners, 3D patterned fleece jackets, and all-in-ones in various designs. The brand’s fleece is recycled, with thermal sets and airfoil accessories including balaclavas and mittens. Seasonal colours take inspiration from the forest, as do the prints, including mushrooms, foliage and berries, with added metallic for girls. More fashion-focused materials also have practicality in mind. The autumn corduroy jacket with teddy lining has a waterproof membrane. Waterproof winter boots, including snow boots and wellies, feature natural rubber and are phthalate-free. We love the range of practical winter jackets with built-in light or heating systems to keep children warm, comfortable and fully visible on winter days. Also, the reflex puffer jackets with reflective materials, which light children up in the dark.

Molo

Molo has always been a leader in responsible fashion practices, and that journey continues. A/w 25 explores what being human means with the brand’s Humankind Collection. Emotions inspire the first delivery for girls. A nostalgic influence references 50s children’s illustrations, vintage wallpapers and classic picture books, all reimagined for today. Drop 1 focuses on a sense of belonging, drawing from Scottish heritage and traditional tartans, evoking the spirit of autumn in the Highlands. Drop 2 is Cosmic Bloom, where curiosity leads us to the stars. We take a romantic and scientific view of space, inspired by images from the James Webb Space Telescope and featuring Molo’s signature aliens and floating unicorns. We also embrace the après-ski spirit, celebrating snowy chalets and shared adventures on the slopes. The boys’ pre-delivery explores two human facets: motion and emotion. In ‘motions,’ skateboarding embodies the physical energy of youth, with comic-style stickers and bold, photographic prints. In ‘emotions,’ we explore the power of feelings and the need for connection and understanding. Drop 1 celebrates human ingenuity – the brain and hand connection – from ancient cave handprints to modern inventions, the collection honours the role of hands in shaping our world. Curiosity drives Drop 2, celebrating our innate desire to explore. From the Moon’s mysteries to the possibility of other life forms, we look outward to the cosmos and inward to our connections with each other. Meanwhile, for the festive season, the Jewellery Box theme brings sparkle, glitter, big bows and rainbow hues for girls, and the Space Holiday theme for boys is an imaginative celebration of space, with playful dinosaur, alien and astronaut motifs.

The brand’s is known for its signature hand-drawn prints that capture the essence of childhood imagination, playfulness and Scandinavian nostalgia. The a/w 25 collection features a playful mix of prints, including space-themed designs, robot animals, colourful machines and lively flowers. The brand’s iconic apple print also makes its return in new colours, ensuring a timeless yet modern twist. As the season shifts, Småfolk introduces a joyful and festive winter collection, with Christmas ornaments, penguins, cute square patterns, sea lions, cars and winter roses. The brand also adds an extra dose of fun for Halloween, with prints featuring dancing skeletons, ghost puppies and Halloween candy. These pieces use organic cotton and offer a blend of comfort and playful style. Each piece focuses on both comfortable fit and timeless styling, with six collections a year covering all product categories. For a/w 25 it has a Back to School focus, with soft sweat styles, a sporty vibe, feminine details and soft colours. Wheat

Since its launch in 2002, Wheat has grown into an international brand and is now established in the UK market. Some of its key goals include expanding into new markets, doubling its wholesale business within the next three years, focusing more on the Baby categories, and obtaining B Corp Certification to solidify its sustainability commitment. Highlights of the a/w 25 range include prints inspired by forests, mountains and wildlife, and patterns including pine trees, animals and natural elements. Puffer and parka jackets remain staples, with a focus on functional aesthetics and bold details. Colour-blocked designs and reflective zippers on jackets enhance visibility while faux fur and Sherpa materials add cosy, tactile elements to outerwear. Inspired by the natural Scandinavian landscape, this season’s colour palette focuses on muted earth tones – soft browns, moss greens, muted blue and warm greys. Traditional Nordic knit patterns make a strong comeback, featuring Fair Isle and geometric designs. Heritage reflects a warm appreciation for nostalgic Scandinavian aesthetics, where simplicity and craftsmanship both naturally intertwine and closely connect to nature. Woven stripes, hand-drawn floral prints and soft checked fabrics embody this cosy essence, which is at the heart of Wheat’s design DNA.
