From the creators of A*Dee, Bonini is the latest brand to join the Picture Book Fashion portfolio, offering girls’ sportswear and athleisurewear that combine practicality, comfort and style.
What was the inspiration behind Bonini?
Bonini was created after we saw more and more customers loving the athleisure trend but still wanting the prints and quality that they can find in A*Dee. It’s been a long process making sure the design and fabrics were just right, so when the girls arrived at the photo shoot to model our first collection and we saw their reactions, we knew we were onto a winner. The brand officially launched in September with our a/w 24 collection and customers have been absolutely loving it ever since.
Who is Bonini’s target customer?
Bonini is for ages 4-12 years plus and is targeted at girls who want stylish practical pieces for dance, gymnastics and sports, but also girls who want these pieces for day-to-day wear and comfort.
What does the collection comprise, and does it incorporate any technical features?
Bonini is a first for us, as everything is sold as separates. Customers can mix and match pieces, giving them the freedom to style how they want to, which we think works perfectly for an athleisure brand like ours. We’ve worked really hard to focus on the practicality of the pieces. We know girls will wear Bonini for its comfort, so we’ve included luxury fleece-lined sweat fabric with a more relaxed fit. Then for our other pieces that girls can wear for dance, gymnastics or other sports, we’ve used breathable, lightweight fabric, which is quick drying and features a four-way stretch for a comfortable fit.
Can you tell us more about the brand’s colour palettes and prints?
For the Core collection, we have key colours that are always available, along with new trending colours that are added seasonally. Our capsule collection by A*Dee features limited addition A*Dee designed prints in trending colour palettes. Both collections give customers a choice of styles and colours to suit everyone.
What feedback have you had on Bonini from retailers?
The feedback we’ve had from our stockists has been incredible; we’ve had an overwhelmingly positive response, with many of our stockists completely selling out of their first season.
How has the process of developing Bonini differed from your other brands?
After years of fine-tuning the process of creating quality childrenswear that we know our customers love, we’ve applied the same process and care that goes into our other brands for Bonini. What has differed for this brand has been the more technical fabrics that we’ve used. We wanted Bonini to be stylish but also comfortable and practical, and with that comes certain fabrics that will live up to the quality that people expect from a Picture Book Fashion brand, but also make this collection incredibly practical.
What are your plans for Bonini?
We always do our best to listen to our stockists and the public about what customers want from our brands and it will be the same with Bonini. We’re so excited to show off our s/s 25 collections, as we think they’ll be another hit. We plan to keep giving our customers exactly what they’re looking for and continue to grow our photography and content for our stockists, as we know how important this is to help build excitement around a new brand like Bonini.
