Ethical and organic children’s clothing and accessory company, Frugi, is eliminating single-use plastic hangers from all of its wholesale and consumer operations and is replacing them with sustainable cardboard hangers.
In the UK alone, 100 million plastic hangers are discarded each year by customers after just one use. As a result, many clothing companies are planning an eco-friendly alternative to help turn the tide on single-use plastics.
The new cardboard hangers are now available to all of Frugi’s existing retailers for purchase on the company’s website in bundles of 50. They are, however, free of charge to Gold POS pack retailers.
Most single-use plastic hangers end up in landfill.
The cardboard hangers use FSC certified 100% recycled materials and are 100% recyclable after use via household paper recycling.
They are also very strong, hard-wearing and can hold all sizes of Frugi clothing from newborn up to age 10 years. Furthermore, they come with reusable metal clips to enable the same hanger to securely hold bottom garments.
Commenting is Frugi’s commercial director, Simon Dowling. “This is an industry game-changer that will significantly reduce single-use plastic hangers circulating within the garment industry each year. I hope other companies follow suit.”
