National Geographic Earth with Clarks shoe

Clarks and National Geographic have added an extension to their collaborative range of kids’ footwear. A new limited-edition, space-themed collection has been introduced to celebrate the official 50th anniversary of man landing on the moon.

Available in Clarks stores throughout the UK and Ireland as well as online, the new range follows the launch of the first Clarks Kids x National Geographic collection earlier this year, which was inspired by some of the planet’s most amazing animal species.

The latest launch is part of a global, multi-year partnership between Clarks and National Geographic.

Two new shoes – Ath Geo and Scape Sonar – feature badges and colours in three styles. Each celebrates a different planet and theme; The Moon Landing 1969 (orange), Earth Focus 2019 (silver) and Mars Mission 2033 (black).

Comfort and sustainability are once again a major feature of the collection.

Highlights include flexible, lightweight soles that let children’s feet move naturally. Furthermore, the shoe linings use 50% recycled polyester, with 70% of the Strobel construction of each shoe being recycled, too. Finally, in further pursuit of a sustainable planet, the one-piece shoebox is also 100% recyclable.

Again, tying in with National Geographic’s focus on sustainability, 16 pairs of the shoes are made from 100% recycled bottles. The packaging, meanwhile, uses recycled cardboard and natural vegetable dye.

Commenting is Helena Mansell-Stopher, director of consumer products, publishing and retail at National Geographic Partners UK. “This stylish extension to a wonderful, eco-friendly collection, is perfectly timed to capture the thrill of the greatest moment in space exploration. It also encourages young people to dream of great space adventures still to come.”

A portion of the revenue from the new range, together with other National Geographic-supported Clarks collections, will support National Geographic’s work in the areas of science, exploration, conservation, and education.
