Founded to make a positive impact on the fashion world, street and casualwear label That Gorilla Brand recently showcased its 2021 collection featuring organic fabrics, fresh colourways and also a new student support initiative.
Do Good, Wear Good
That Gorilla Brand’s 2021 collection launches with a charity and student initiative supporting Mastered Programs emerging Art and Design talent. The new initiative debuts with ‘Emerging T’; a colourful gorilla print T-shirt designed by Ana Hirschmann, this year’s competition winner.
Commenting on her design, Hirschmann says; “A geometric pattern serves both sporty and urban looks. I used geometry and blocks of colour to enhance the brand’s logo in a timeless way that can be worn by a wide range of people with different lifestyles.”
Rolling out annually, the design competition will see students win a £3,000 grant towards their studies or design collections, with a new school supported each year.
Currently studying Digital Textiles and Furniture Design at Central Saint Martins, Hirschmann intends to utilise the grant to update her working tools and education as a designer.
One hundred per cent of the profits from Emerging T will go to The Gorilla Organization, which the brand partners with to support charity projects in Uganda.
The Gorilla Organization is devoted exclusively to the conservation of the world’s gorillas. It works tirelessly to protect both the ape and its habitat through projects of community-led conservation.
Every T-shirt purchase includes free shipping to encourage sales to support the charity.
Elsewhere, an evolution of That Gorilla Brand’s most popular items also sees new colourways and styles for 2021. Launching in January, the collection will include childrenswear, womenswear and menswear.
Highlights include relaxed hoodies and joggers as well as an accessories collection of caps and bags. Fresh new colourways of Biscay Green and Tangerine Tango update existing silhouettes alongside the new TGB Fleece Jacket style.
Both inclusive and unique, That Gorilla Brand marries fresh and minimalist designs with quality execution. Fabrications of organic cotton can be found throughout the products, which the brand has produced in Portugal.
