The Den Kit Company – Inspiring the next generation through creative outdoor play
The Den Kit Company began life in 2007; the seed of an idea planted, watered and tendered by Kay Miller and Jo Jones. As ex-primary school teachers and Forest School practitioners, the founders are both passionate advocates of outdoor play.
Den Kits
The company’s Den Kits are available in a variety of themes. They all aim to encourage children outside – whether that be in a small backyard, the woods, a beach, or a balcony.
The Den Kits allow children to create a hand-crafted space in which to set up a temporary retreat with little or no previous den-building experience.
As well as appealing to children’s natural sense of adventure, the Den Kits are also an effective teaching tool; helping support problem-solving, critical thinking and ingenuity.
Regular outdoor play also offers children multi-sensory experience and helps build respect for the natural environment.
Activity Kits
Alongside the Den Kits, the company has also created a collection of creative Activity Kits. These include a ‘make a pizza for the birds kit’ as well as a flower press kit.
The Den Kit Company is based in an old Shropshire dairy. With sustainability in mind, the company’s team designs all products and assembles them in an on-site workshop.
The brand has had various collaborations over the years including The National Trust, Jaguar Land Rover and inspirational survivalist, Ed Stafford.
