Tru Schoolwear store front

Schoolwear retailer and supplier, Tru Schoolwear Group, has opened a new store in Wythenshawe, Manchester. Trading under Tru Uniforms, the new shop located at 120 Sale Road, M23 0BX opened its doors on 2 January.

Formerly known as SMFA, Tru Uniforms now forms part of the Tru Schoolwear Group under the management of Ankur Vij.

The Wythenshawe store marks Tru Schoolwear Group’s second branch; its first being Abbey Street Shopping Centre in Accrington, Lancashire.

Commenting on the Group’s recent expansion is Rohit Vij, who manages Abbey Street Shopping Centre’s operations and accounts. “We’ve been looking for a new business for some time now.

“This purchase was perfect. There are many schools in the area and the shop is conveniently located on the main road next to grocery stores and a post office. We are now looking to expand our Tru Schoolwear Group further.”

With Tru Schoolwear Group’s longstanding retail experience and strong links with key schoolwear suppliers, Tru Uniforms has already increased sales. Plans now are to target more schools covering Altrincham, Cheadle and Trafford.

“We already have a great property portfolio,” continues Rohit Vij. “However, we will certainly be looking to increase it; possibly even starting a new schoolwear business from scratch.

“We already have a few areas in mind, but we will wait to see how the market performs over the next year or two before making any decisions.”
