Young girl stood against a grey panelled wall wearing a red top with a dog on the front from the Zuma the Dog AR range

Bertish and Company Ltd, the creator and owner of the children’s character brand Zuma the Dog, is launching its new AR gaming experience kids’ apparel at Spring Fair on 5-8 February.

The game named ‘Zuma Likes to Dig’ is the first edition of The Zumaverse’s AR mobile games and brings Bertish and Company’s character Zuma the Dog up to date as a 3D animation. It also shares its title with the first preschool book written by brand creator, Samantha Bertish.

Combining gaming tech and kids’ apparel

The user can access the game through a scannable logo on the clothing using any mobile device. The game doesn’t require any heavy downloads onto devices or email logins. Once scanned, the user is taken to a colourful loading page and invited to ‘Launch Zumaverse.’ Gameplay includes Zuma the Dog sniffing around for treasures, which the user must help him find.

In true Zuma the Dog form, the game is suitable for children of all ages. From pre-schoolers through to older children and teens. It also gives the user a completely immersive experience with Zuma, including the opportunity to take a photograph with him to share on social media.

Spike Leisure will showcase the range at Spring Fair with demonstrations of the easy scan, click, play function.

“We are so excited and very grateful to Richard Marks at Spike Leisure for his insight into our AR gaming apparel potential and offering to show it at Spring Fair this year,” says Samantha Bertish. “He understands the concept and we look forward to seeing the reaction of industry professionals.”

The AR T-shirt will be available to view on the Spike Leisure stand at Spring Fair, C31 in Hall 5 of Birmingham’s NEC. Zuma the Dog’s baby and nursery range can also be found on the Hippychick stand, G21 in Hall 5.
