Made in UK day Advert Image on dark blue background

William Turner, a manufacturer and supplier of school ties and accessories, was amongst those participating in this year’s Made in UK Day on 9 March. Made in UK Day is a campaign run by Make it British − a community of UK-made brands and manufacturers – to celebrate UK makers.

As well as calling on consumers to buy something made here in the UK, the campaign supported businesses that make in the UK with a downloadable championing pack featuring resources such as a campaign poster and graphics.

William Turner has been manufacturing its range of school ties in the UK since 1969.

In addition to employing over 100 staff − 65 of whom work across its two factory sites in Skipton and Nelson − the company also sources all fabric locally. The ties William Turner produces here are truly made in the UK.

Furthermore, all of William Turner’s UK ties are now made using recycled yarn sourced from Italy. This provides a much lower carbon footprint in comparison to imported ties that are flown in and enables the firm to play its part in saving the planet from global warming.

Other products William Turner sources from the UK include scarves, badges and water bottles. This means almost 50% of the company’s range is made in this country.
