Maped Helix, a leader in school and stationery supplies based in Kingswinford, has been awarded Employer of the Year at the Black Country Chamber Business Awards 2024.
The awards not only recognise employers who excel in developing their workforce and engage employees in company values, but also celebrate companies that promote diversity and inclusion and clearly support employee welfare and engagement. Maped Helix’s benefits include enhanced maternity packages, counselling, early finishes, life insurance, and weekly mindfulness and Pilates sessions, to name a few.
The brand also undertakes annual surveys to obtain feedback from colleagues on their work-life balance, sense of fulfilment, job satisfaction, psychological safety and financial security. The results ensure the business is always listening to staff, continually improving the place of work for everyone, and reviewing processes and policies to support all.
The results speak volumes, with 100% of staff feeling welcomed when they joined the company.
Also, 97% of staff agree that the facilities contribute to a good working environment (a score which is 12% above the industry average), and all employees feel treated fairly regardless of their race, gender and sexual orientation. Furthermore, out of the 34-strong team at Maped Helix, 12 have worked at the company for over 10 years, with seven of those working at Maped Helix for over 20 years.
The Black Country Chamber of Commerce Business Awards are the longest-running celebration recognising the achievements of those doing business in Dudley, Sandwell, Walsall and Wolverhampton.
