The founders of Wheat

Wheat, the Danish premium kidswear brand founded more than 25 years ago, has a new Board of Directors. Chaired by Torben Laustsen, the Board has been assembled to support the company’s next chapter of international growth and its ambition to build a leading global premium brand for families with children.

The new Board combines deep operational and commercial expertise from across the Nordic and global consumer industries. Founders Charlotte and Peter Galsgaard (pictured) take seats on the new Board alongside Chairman Torben Laustsen, Jesper Rasmussen (Deciem/The Estée Lauder Companies), Claus Tjærby (former CSCO, Søstrenes Grene), Marianne Tochtermann (Material ESG), and Lise Ryevad (former EVP/CCO, Matas A/S).

Commenting is Thomas Frederiksen, CEO and co-owner of Wheat.

“Wheat is at a point where the strategic decisions we make in the coming years will define the company for the next generation. Over the past 25 years, we have built a Danish design treasure that we are now scaling into a global premium brand for families with children. We have assembled a board that brings expertise across the disciplines that matter most for Wheat’s next chapter: international brand building, commercial execution, supply chain at scale, and responsible business.”

Responsibility runs through how Wheat grows across materials, supply chain, certifications, due diligence and long-term value creation. It is also one of the reasons the company’s new chairman cited for taking on the role.

“When I was asked to take on the chairmanship at Wheat, it was an easy decision. Over 25 years, Wheat has built something rare – a strong brand, a healthy business, and a serious approach to responsibility that is not a communications exercise. Few companies have that combination. I look forward to bringing my experience from board work and senior leadership, particularly across brand, governance and strategy, into the next phase of Wheat’s growth.”
