Hugo and Me Boy in ball pool

Online ethical babywear store Hugo and Me has launched its first bricks and mortar store. The boutique opened on 8 December at 111 High Street, Uppermill, Greater Manchester.

To mark the occasion, an opening party saw customers enjoy festive drinks and nibbles whilst having their photo taken with Santa. The retailer also hosted a raffle and offered 20% off everything in-store on the day.

Fifty per cent of the profits from the raffle will now be donated to Cascade Baby Bundles; a charity that provides bundles of baby clothing and essentials for families going through hardship in nearby Tameside.

As well as the donation, Hugo and Me’s partnership with the charity will see the shop act as a collection point for anyone wanting to donate baby clothing and essentials in the future.

Commenting on the new store is the business’s owner, Victoria Shuttleworth. “The opening day was fantastic. We had a steady stream of customers come to visit the shop and have a look at our lovely products. We had lots of compliments about the style and decor of the store and of course, the great quality of the products.

“With Christmas just around the corner, the wooden toys and furniture were of particular interest to customers looking for Christmas presents. Also, the matching hats and cosy winter outfits.

“Many local residents and other shop owners came in to wish us luck, so in all, it was a really successful opening. We are now excited about the future of the shop.”

Shuttleworth launched Hugo and Me when her son Hugo was born.

She began searching for organic, high-quality baby clothing with a focus on neutral tones and contemporary designs.

Discovering multiple small brands that fit the bill led her to bring them all together into one website and supply them herself. The result is a one-stop-shop for style-conscious parents looking for organic babywear and eco-friendly baby clothes.

Since launching, Hugo and Me has expanded to also offer contemporary nursery furniture, décor and toys.
