Sleepy Wilson is a new ethical sleepwear company that produces silk pyjamas for women and children marrying style, comfort and sustainability.

The pyjamas feature the highest grade 19mm silk; a renewable, biodegradable source that is also naturally temperature regulating, breathable, hypoallergenic and antibacterial. Subsequently, the pyjamas help to promote a better night’s sleep.

Plus, with added 6% stretch, the garments offer improved comfort, allowing the wearer to twist and turn as much as they like whilst asleep.

The company offers complete supply chain transparency and sustainable manufacturing processes.

Paula and Tom Wilson are the husband and wife team behind Sleepy Wilson; a brand that promotes the transformative power of sleep.

Years of stressful jobs, moving houses and countries and having two children had left the couple in constant pursuit of restful sleep.

When their young son developed eczema and started over-heating at night in synthetic sleepwear, the duo put their background in fashion product development and their love of all things sleep-related to good use to create a range of their own.

Their belief in investment over fast fashion and the joy of quality over budget pricing underpins Sleepy Wilson. Also, a focus on fabrics that perform for their intended purpose and using natural fibres that don’t harm the environment and can be produced ethically and sustainably.

Eco benefits

Everyone involved in making Sleepy Wilson pyjamas earns a fair wage. Not only that, the brand’s production has minimised environmental impact and it uses biodegradable fabrics and no toxins or pesticides.

Equally, there is full visibility over yarn supply, dyeing, weaving and printing. This same visibility carries through to manufacturing on the cutting stitching and finishing.

Sleepy Wilson is part of the Fashion Revolution campaign and highlights all of its suppliers and manufacturers on its website. It also works with the Eco Packaging alliance, which plants trees on its behalf when they order packaging. Alongside its logistics partners DHL, Sleepy Wilson aims to increase carbon efficiency and to be carbon neutral by 2022.

The company is also working on certifying its employees on a GoGreen programme.

Sleepy Wilson uses plastic-free manufacturing and packaging and fully compostable and biodegradable mailer bags.

A zero-waste policy also means the brand is conscious of over-production and material waste. As well as producing small runs, off-cuts are made into other products. For instance, eye masks, silk padded hangers and pillowcases. The brand either sells these to raise money for charity or uses them for gifting.

Sleepy Wilson has visited and audited its overseas factories and is fully aware of the compliance regulations for ethical, social and technical transparency. Its mill, factory and printers are also audited and certificated. Finally, Sleepy Wilson is part of the Trillion Tree campaign.
