Velveteen marks AW19 collection launch with Harrods pop-up store

This September will see luxury childrenswear brand Velveteen open a pop-up store in Harrods.

Officially marking the launch of the label’s a/w 19 collection, the pop-up on Harrods’ Fourth floor will be available from 6 September until 3 October.

Titled ‘The Super Secret Scout Society’, Velveteen’s a/w 19 collection is set against a backdrop of 80s movies and takes inspiration from childhood adventures.

Highlights include the modernising of classic 80s silhouettes and fabrications. From shoulder pads, bubble skirts and layered ruffles through to athletic-inspired knitwear and velvet tuxedos.

The colour palette, meanwhile, is taken straight out of the movie theatre. Key shades include warm winter pinks as well as pops of colour such as ‘Goonies Gold’, ‘Beetlejuice Blue’ and ‘DeLorean Grey’.

The Super Secret Scout Society collection follows the successful launch of the brand’s full boyswear collection.

A/w 19 also sees the introduction of an extended knitwear offering. The knitwear complements silhouettes such as wide-leg trousers and jumpsuits; mid-length skirts and dresses; wool blend coats and jackets; and Velveteen’s signature propriety prints and fabrics.

The collection comprises four interconnected stories as well as a special holiday capsule. Available for both boys and girls, sizes are 3 months up to 14 years.

A focus on sustainability

As with all of its collections, Velveteen strives to work with only the best quality, ethical factories; factories that practice fair labour, support local families and care about the environment.

Additionally, Velveteen uses remnant fabrics from each season’s manufacturing to create new items. For instance, dolls, accessories, notebooks and garment bags.

The brand is also working on a recycling programme with a partner in Hong Kong. Velveteen aims to implement the programme in retail stores in the next few months.
