Ethical and sustainable children’s clothing company, Frugi, has appointed Margaret McDonald as the group’s new chair. McDonald is an experienced private equity chairman and CEO as well as a global consumer brand specialist.

McDonald brings a wealth of knowledge from her work with companies across the global retail sector. Her experience as Global President of Victoria’s Secret, a $4 billion company, saw the stock price hit an all-time high, with a market capitalisation of over $25 billion during her tenure.

She has also served as senior executive for GAP Inc, Banana Republic and Primark, amongst many others.

Furthermore, she is a non-executive director of Spiritual Gangster, an LA-based Sportswear company. Plus, she is the former executive chairman of Masai Clothing, a Nordic female fashion brand. And, she previously served as a non-executive director of Flying Tiger Copenhagen, a € 1 billion private equity-backed speciality retailer.

McDonald brings valuable global knowledge to Frugi that will stand the brand in good stead for future expansion.

McDonald says; “I am really looking forward to joining Frugi as chair and working closely alongside Sarah and the rest of the fantastic team. It is a very exciting time for the brand, maintaining its focus on sustainability, quality and giving back to the wider Frugi community, whilst continuing to go from strength to strength. I hope to encourage and be a part of this growth going forwards.”

Also commenting is Sarah Clark, Frugi CEO. “We are excited to be welcoming Margaret into the Frugi team, with her exceptional level of experience across different retail brands. We look forward to immersing Margaret into our Frugi world, and with her guidance as chair, delivering against our ambitious brand mission and commercial growth plans.”

Frugi ensures its clothes are made positively, for people and the planet.

As a brand, Frugi’s core belief is ‘buy less and buy better’. From its inception, the company has worked with suppliers exclusively operating at a high ethical standard. Frugi champions sustainable and quality clothes crafted from gentle yet durable materials; the company has used GOTS certified organic cotton for its range of baby and children’s clothes from the very start. This is alongside recycled polyester from plastic bottles for both its outerwear and swimwear.

Ella d’Amato, Frugi Board member and True MD, Investment concludes; ”It’s testament to the team’s hard work, Frugi’s beautiful products and its genuine mission to make a positive impact through business, that we’ve been able to attract such a brilliant new chair to the board. I’m confident Margaret’s fresh perspective and commercial acumen will bring a variety of exciting opportunities to the Frugi Group. I’m excited to get stuck in together with Sarah and make it all happen.”
